We are looking for an exceptional individual with vision and enthusiasm and a proven track record of research in Data Science related areas. As an Associate Professor in Data Science, you will lead the growth of research for the Department of Computing and Technology in this field. Applications are welcome from across the spectrum of computational intelligence, machine learning, or computational statistics. You will undertake a substantive programme of research at the highest international standard. The application of your research could be related to biological, physical, health, social, information sciences, engineering and business.

As a successful applicant you will contribute to the existing strength of the Department of Computing & Technology. The Department of Computing and Technology is a hugely popular department with students and a reputation for delivering industrially relevant courses, including a range of Degree Apprenticeships. You will continue to develop this profile after you join the department. The department has research strengths in Interactive Systems, Computational Intelligence, Cognitive Robotics, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things and Smart Infrastructures, with active research groups breaking new ground in these fields.

The University is making multi-million pound investments in both buildings and equipment at the Clifton campus, an award-winning “green” campus. The newly opened ISTeC building has state of the art facilities for computer science, including high performance computing, robotics, mobile computing, and Graphics/Games, as well as containing isolated network laboratories. A second building, due for completion in 2019, will support interdisciplinary activities across computer science, engineering and business to address the challenges of Industry 4.0.
