What we are looking for:

We are recruiting on an exclusive basis for a Data Scientist to join our team in London. OpenWeather LTD has already established relations with more than 1,6 million customers and we are now seeking to recruit an individual that will be able to develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimise efficiency and quality of data processing algorithms and methods

Responsibilities:

  • You will work with a broad range of data and algorithms to process it, including Deep Learning. Data include weather data which are gotten from different sources and weather models, satellite imagery data, derivative products such as vegetation indexes for the agricultural industry (NDVI, EVI etc), and other environmental data.
  • Developing techniques and algorithms for Openweather machine learning models.
  • Conducting experiments and testing hypotheses when working with data. Writing a large number of prototypes for data processing.
  • Working with Big Data datasets and applying large-scale techniques to continuously train and tune machine (and deep) learning models.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software engineering and data science. In particular, developing Cloud-based applications and applying algorithms which are based on data science techniques.
  • Degree in Engineering or related fields.
  • Deep knowledge in weather data analysis, forecast models and data interpretation.
  • Knowledge in satellite imagery processing, analysis and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of GIS technologies.
  • Ability to lead a team of software developers and data scientists.
  • Knowledge in data science concepts and the ability to report on data science concepts in a simple but comprehensive manner.
  • Fluent English
  • Knowledge of other languages such as the Russian language will be an advantage due to business requirements.

Software

  • Strong, production-level Python expertise and familiarity leveraging data-oriented python libraries (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Numpy etc).
  • Experience in working with frameworks and tools such as Jupyter (IPython), Flask, SymPy.
  • Strong facility with some combination of practical machine learning techniques (neural networks/deep learning, etc.), statistics, and/or signal processing.
  • Ability to work with Matplotlibor Seaborn.
  • Experience in working with the framework for Deep learning such as Fastai,PyTorchorTensorFlow.

Other requirements

  • Experience in working with data on the international level will be an advantage.
  • PhD degree in an engineering field or equivalent will be an advantage.
  • Proving track records with scientific researches in an application of numerical optimisation methods, like evolution strategies, will be a plus.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent self-organisation, self-motivation and time management.
  • Use expert knowledge of data science techniques and statistics to regularly deliver complex projects with a commercial approach.
  • Ability to describe data analysis and explain solutions proposed by algorithms of ML.
