Application Deadline

Frontier Economics is one of the largest economic consultancies in Europe with offices in Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, London, Madrid and Paris. We work with clients around the world to help them with their biggest challenges – market strategies, regulatory reviews, competition inquiries. And we help governments design innovative policies and regulatory systems. We use economics to help companies, public authorities and charities understand complex challenges, improve performance, make better decisions and keep ahead of the competition.

To help us support these projects, we are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our Competition practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data and enjoy applying their technical skills to help solve complex problems.

Applicants are required to have a Bachelors in a quantitative subject (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics) and at least 1 year of experience working in a data science role . A postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in using statistical programming languages / packages (in particular Python – knowledge of R and/or Stata would be desirable)
  • Experience of working with large datasets and data wrangling
  • Experience in using GIS packages / working with geographic data
  • Experience of working in a professional development environment would be highly desirable
  • Knowledge of web scraping / working with APIs
  • Knowledge of SQL databases would be desirable
  • Ability to engage novel problems and concepts and find practical solutions using existing or unfamiliar tools quickly
  • Excellent communication skills to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues

In addition to stimulating and thought-provoking project work, we offer numerous benefits to support you inside and outside of work. All employees have access to numerous Learning & Development opportunities including ongoing Career Development Reviews with the support of an allocated Mentor.

We understand the importance of work/life balance and offer flexible working arrangements including working from home. In addition we provide 28 days annual leave with the option to purchase an additional 10.

Frontier is entirely owned by its employees. As Shareholders, we encourage everyone to put forward their views. Not only do we influence how the company is run but we choose to distribute as much of our profits as is prudently possible through bonuses. In addition we offer a highly rewarding salary.

If you would like to become part of our team, we are interested in meeting candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Analysis & Problem solving skills: economists who can accurately deliver work often using a range of techniques, and be involved in scoping that work with support from others,.
  • Communication skills: Consultants who can communicate successfully and professionally to clients and colleagues.
  • Work Management skills: Organised individuals who understand their own and colleagues’ roles on projects.
  • Client relationship skills: An awareness of how to work professionally with clients in a range of situations.
  • Contribution to Frontier values: A genuine interest in identifying and developing opportunities to make Frontier a better place to work.

We are looking forward to receiving your application.
