Fixed-Term/Secondment for 2 years

The Fylde Coast CCGs have been at the forefront of national innovations since their creation almost five years ago. Early pioneers of many ideas and services that have gone on to shape national policy, both Blackpool and Fylde and Wyre CCGs have been involved in several national pilots to develop new ways of working and embracing new technologies.

This is an exciting time for the NHS across the Fylde Coast. We are at the cutting edge of developing new ways of delivering intelligence, with ambitious plans to deliver real-time data and predictive analysis supporting integrated health and care across the area. In particular to support the development of Healthier Fylde Coast and the local integrated care partnership.

As part of this journey the two Fylde Coast clinical commissioning groups have come together to form a single management team. In support of this and our wider working across the Fylde Coast and Lancashire & South Cumbria integrated care system, we are expanding our business intelligence team to support the development and delivery of our strategic roadmap for business intelligence.

We are seeking to find a proactive, inquisitive and talented individual to help shape the future of predictive modelling and data analytics to supporting the delivery of the Fylde Coast Business Intelligence services.

As a Data Scientist you will assist the Fylde Coast CCGs in all manner of deep-dive investigations, predictive modelling and prescriptive analytics, supporting the delivery of an innovative business intelligence team. You will lead the development of mathematical and statistical models (from algorithm implementation to program development), manage the deployment of decision-support tools to provide evidence and scenario modelling for strategic and operational decision making, and make recommendations where impact is predicted.

Working on a variety of diverse projects across the Fylde Coast organisations, the role will also require succinct communication with senior operational and corporate leaders as well as external stakeholders, and so confidence in presenting complex findings to non-technical audiences is essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate practical expertise in technical areas such as:

  • supervised and unsupervised learning, for predictive modelling and clustering;
  • optimisation;
  • time series forecasting;
  • simulation;
  • visualisation and advanced analytics.

Candidates with postgraduate degrees in Maths, Operational Research, Data Science, Business Analytics or a relevant numerate subject are desirable.

Please note that previous applicants need not apply.
