Compass Life Sciences are working with a highly innovative, global leader, who are widely recognised as the market leader in the field for Genomics and Sequencing, within the Life Sciences and Medical Devices sector. Based in their brand new state of the art headquarters south of Cambridge, this is a highly technical and logical role. In this position you will use your honed problem solving skills to analyse large scale numerical datasets, and your work will lead to new methods and algorithms in image analysis, signal processing and statistical inference. Your role is highly visible and influential on the future development of new, innovations in this complex market area.The RoleYou will be part of a culture which is fuelled by collaboration, openness, and innovation, to help change lives by driving advancements in life sciences, oncology, reproductive health, and other markets such as agriculture and emerging markets. You will be part of a highly passionate team which recognise they have the power to improve lives.In this role, you will enjoy working in a highly collaborative and fast paced Research and Development environment. You will be involved in or responsible for a number of areas including;

  • Investigating and modelling performance of technical methods
  • Developing efficient methods for image analysis and signal processing
  • Optimising DNA sequencing instrumentation and data from laboratory assays
  • Implementing numerical algorithms in C and C++
  • Working with scientists from different disciplines across sites around the globe.

Requirements

To be considered for this position our client is looking for talent who a proven track record and demonstrated accomplishments in

  • Problem solving with a high degree of numeracy
  • Applied analysis and modelling of physical, chemical or abstract systems
  • Application of statistical inference in a research environment, such as Bayesian, maximum likelihood and other parameter estimation methods, machine learning, clustering algorithms or Monte-Carlo sampling
  • Research experience in image analysis or graphics and visualisation techniques
  • Scientific software development experience in C or C++, with familiarity of scripting languages such as Python.
  • MSc / PhD in a mathematics, statistics, or computer science field or related
  • Hands on experience with image and/or data analysis and the ability to be comfortable working with large volumes of data
