The next phase of our evolution aims to use our vast amounts of data to develop new services that help customers save money and access the best available products. This will be supported by our work at the forefront of the open banking data evolution.

The work

The head of data science will lead our data products initiative, building and managing a multi-disciplinary team to bring new products and services to our customer base. You will also oversee and evolve our business intelligence capabilities.

You will define and lead the data product strategy and delivery with three prime objectives:

● Help customers save money and improve their creditworthiness

● Develop data-driven capabilities to automate our intelligence

● Grow an active returning membership base from these services

This is a new completely new capability within the business so you will have the opportunity to build and shape this from scratch.


You will be a strong team leader, able to convey a clear vision, roadmap and what’s required to deliver it. You will have a deep technical background in modern advanced analytics, statistics, machine learning and AI techniques, with experience using the latest cloud-based technologies.

You will have demonstrable previous experience in leading a function in defining and developing data-driven products. If you have worked with credit and open banking data this could be advantageous.


Our platform is composed of leading modern software technologies deployed within the cloud, this was custom built from scratch and allows us to move fast with high quality and low risk. We strive for new and innovative ways to achieve outcomes, and you’ll have the opportunity to make use of technologies that can accelerate or differentiate our capabilities.


We like to create cross-functional teams working together on shared objectives. You’ll take responsibility for our existing data & analytics function, which is composed of BI developers and data engineers. The rest of the team is still to be built and you’ll be the key to shaping this.

Our main office is based in Manchester, but we have a flexible work from home policy and can consider fully remote positions for the right candidate. It is nice to catch up in person now and again so the ideal candidate should be open to this.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll form part of the platform's senior leadership team, alongside leaders in engineering and change.

Interview process

We try to keep our interview process as simple and efficient as possible so that we can both make a timely decision about whether we align with each other’s interests and goals

We have a fast and effective three-stage interview process. Stage one is a phone screen, while stages two and three are both face-2-face interviews, ideally one in person. This allows candidates to meet with the hiring manager, senior team members, and others within the cross-functional departments.

We know that it can be challenging to interview while being employed so we try to be flexible on interview times.
