Create a future worth living: For patients. Worldwide. Every day. Globally, around 3.2 million people suffer from chronic kidney failure and rely on life-saving dialysis treatment. Within the Global Research & Development (GRD) department, we are developing innovative products and treatments for these people.

We treat a dialysis patient somewhere in the world with our products every 0.7 seconds. As the world market leader in dialysis, we are continually developing and designing the most modern medical technology for a future worth living for our patients – and you could become a part of this in Berlin.

Your challenge in detail

In our independent global unit, you will develop mathematical, statistical and algorithmic solutions for various issues relating to Fresenius Medical Care.

Here, in a highly dynamic environment, you will implement the solutions into software systems for piloting, including front-end, and advise on implementation into productive systems.

As an in-house consultant, you will also be greatly involved in the processing, structuring and design of the application possibilities of mathematics, statistics and algorithms.

In definite terms, you will work directly with the interfaces of business, doctors, patients and other user groups – we place emphasis on an open exchange and strong networking.

You will also document the results, prepare them visually and communicate them in a knowledgeable manner to experts, laypersons and the corresponding stakeholders.

Ultimately, you will lead the technical and methodical components of our project from a professional point of view – with modern technology and AI, you will make our medical technology fit for the future.

Your desired competences

  • Completed study (Masters / Doctorate) in computer science, business mathematics, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering sciences or a comparable discipline in terms of quantity
  • Ideally, initial professional experience from internships or similar
  • Grounded knowledge of classic prediction processes (classification, regression, ranking, time series), inferential statistics (tests, interpretation of models), optimisation, natural language processing, image processing and biosignal processing is necessary.
  • Good knowledge of IT as well as initial programming experience, preferably also adept when working with databases and modern development tools (git, Docker etc.)
  • Preferably supplemented with the ability to develop pilots independently end-to-end and working in a professional productive environment.
  • Strong communication skills combined with conceptual creative thinking as well as an entrepreneurial, customer and results-oriented style of working

Be there from the start

Our newly founded AI unit is well-networked with our R&D locations across the world. In our base in Berlin, we have an open and innovative work culture – this gives us a lot of freedom for visionary ideas. Our task is called “Innovation with data and AI” and aims at making the medical devices from Fresenius even better through ideation, product design, implementation and even business model innovation. Here, we focus on the concept of intelligent dialysis machines and will expand to cover the whole medical device area in the long term. Based on extensive company experience and a strong track record in analytics, we now want to break new ground with big steps.

What we have to offer

You can look forward to an activity with a lot of freedom for design: From the identification of optimisation potential to implementing the finished product – you are involved in the whole process. Worldwide, because we work together with research institutes in India and China and are always on the lookout for emerging markets. Here, we combine the agility and freedom of a start-up with the reliable backing of a large company. Your personal development options are just as diverse as the job itself. Whether on a management career track or professional career specialising in consulting, design or engineering – you have the choice and can rely on our support in the form of individual continuous or further training options at any time.

What happens after you apply

Our application process is standardised and split into four stages: (1) Online test, (2) telephone interview, (3) data challenge, (4) personal meeting. First, you have the possibility of proving your technical knowledge in an online test. Once you have successfully completed the first stage, we would like to invite you to talk to us in a 45-minute telephone interview. If the contents and tasks of the job still work for both sides, we will ask you to undertake a data challenge. You can then send the results to us in writing. At the final personal meeting, you then have the opportunity to present your solution and to meet your potential colleagues.
