This post holder will lead the development, delivery and management of common, consistent and high-quality data and information services across Homes England; defining and building data flows to connect operational data systems, driving the development of data streaming solutions and defining standards for metadata management and ETL processes.

The individual will also oversee and support the maintenance of our legacy data systems and platform.
The individual will be required to work regularly and closely with all teams across the agency to understand and interpret their needs, as well as the rest of the Digital Team in order to turn these requirements into practical solutions for improving and managing data.

Job description

The successful person will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the collection, management and organisation of data ensuring changes to data systems are effectively implemented.
  • Working with Data and Digital colleagues to ensure that data models and structures used in internal and external applications and services are aligned with the agency’s strategic objectives and follow agreed data standards.
  • Expanding and continually review the core data assets and environment to support the needs of the organization
  • Defining and enforcing appropriate data quality and governance standards to ensure data is secure and controlled, adopting appropriate change management processes for data and systems changes and management of associated risk.
  • Leading the maintenance and development of a range of core data services, automating data pipelines and ensuring that key data is consistent and accurate across the whole data ecosystem

Responsibilities

In order to complete the responsibilities for this role, the successful candidate will have:

Experience:

  • Proven working experience working with SQL and relational data systems
  • Proven experience working with large and complex data environments
  • Experience developing & maintaining effective working relationships with technical and non-specialist colleagues.
  • Experience of managing data projects and teams in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Enterprise Metadata Management and data quality standards, and creating and deploying best practices and methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience in a role that includes problem solving, analytical and logical skills.
  • Extensive experience of working on cloud technologies such as Azure Data Factory/Databricks or using an ETL tool such as Informatica, Talend, Boomi or Azusimilar.
  • Proven experience of working with large and complex structured and unstructured data
  • Proven experience of working with SQL and relational database
  • Proven experience of working with schema-less NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB, MongoDB
  • Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with technical and non-specialist colleagues.
  • Experience of managing data projects and teams in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Enterprise Metadata Management and data quality standards, and creating and deploying best practices and methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience in a role that includes problem solving, analytical and logical skills
