At bp, our purpose is reimagining energy for people and our planet. We want to help the world reach net zero – that’s why we’re reducing our emissions, scaling up renewables and investing more in the low-carbon energy the world needs to improve people’s lives. On our two-year fast-track programme, you’ll play a big part in helping us to realise our ambition.

Quantitative & Statistical Trading Programme

What you’ll be doing

Working with, and learning from, some of the industry’s sharpest minds, you’ll rapidly develop the skills needed to connect bp to the world’s energy and finance trading markets. You’ll learn core energy-industry concepts and trading strategies from industry professionals, before putting them into action under the guidance of your expert colleagues. Responsibility and autonomy will come quickly. And, with access to the latest digital tech and a best-in-class trading environment, it won’t take you long to make your mark.

What you’ll need

To excel, you’ll need a STEM-related postgraduate degree, MSc or PhD, along with a strong understanding of probability, statistics and time-series analysis. Computer programming skills – ideally Python – are important too, and you’ll need to be as excited about the potential of new technology as we are. Ultimately though, it’s your inquisitive, analytical and curious mind that’ll really make the difference.

Where it could take you

At the end of the programme, you’ll be ideally positioned for a quantitative trading role in bp, but there may also be other opportunities in data science or technology. Whichever direction you take you’ll discover worldwide opportunities, along with fascinatingly complex work that will help reshape the energy sector.

Why join us

With bp, you’ll get to build a challenging, varied career in a culture where teamwork, learning and respect are part of daily life. And you’ll achieve your ambitions, while contributing to work that makes an impact far beyond our business.
