Department

The Quantitative Trading team applies advanced mathematical/statistical models and rigorous calibration to develop a portfolio of diversified systematic strategies across different commodities and markets.

The newly formed team is responsible for applying a consistent risk-taking framework to leverage the proprietary data streams and develop an integrated business next to the other existing trading desks.

The desk itself is directly responsible for the infrastructure development and the maintenance of the systematic portfolio and associated analytics.

Position Purpose

The Quantitative Trading desk is currently in growth mode and looking for additional talent across the Quantitative spectrum: from data and feature analysis, strategy and execution development to portfolio and risk management.

The Quantitative trader/Researcher/Analyst will work in a small but dedicated team and contribute to the portfolio build out with a focus on low-latency strategies.

The new team member is expected to analyse new ideas, back those up with in-depth analysis, assist or lead the strategy development and be involved in portfolio analysis. The strategies will be leveraged in the entirety of the portfolio.

As part of the Quantitative Trading desk, you will also have the opportunity to help manage the risks on the book and use your quantitative skills to research new ideas and trading strategies and see these through to implementation.

The exact role will be defined around the skillset of the successful candidate to ensure optimal functioning of the team.

Day to day responsibilities of the team

  • You will work in a small team of traders, quants and developers on developing new and maintaining existing commodities trading strategies.
  • Coming up with new, cutting-edge trading ideas.
  • Do extensive feature analysis and apply rigorous scientific thinking.
  • Design, implement, back-test and deploy trading algorithms
  • Help improve execution and risk management of the existing portfolio
  • Handle production environment and work together with the team on tool adaptation.
  • Work on modelling cross asset relationships
  • Contributing to internal tools eg back testing tools and extend the analytics library

Required experience:

  • Quantitative background - includes degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science or Physics.
  • Programming proficiency with at least one major programming language (C# preferred) or scripting language (Python preferred)
  • Plus is if you can draw on experience from working in trading or a cutting edge technology company but we will consider strong entry level candidates.
  • Preferably prior experience in commodities at a hedge fund or commodities House
  • Strong technical and problem solving (trouble shooting) skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to dealing with challenges
  • Highly motivated to work directly with technology and research
  • Ability to quickly resolve issues under pressure
  • Sense of responsibility and urgency
  • A very proactive individual able to handle activities simultaneously
  • Hands-on approach, flexible with a positive outlook.
  • Ability to fully participate in multi-faceted team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy of information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
