About us

Every week, Ofsted carries out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits to England’s childcare and educational service providers. Holding these services accountable for delivering the highest standards, we work in a regulatory capacity, supporting services as they address their weaknesses. We gather and process information and statistics for government and the wider public, and have some 1,800 employees across eight regions and more than 2,300 Ofsted Inspectors in the field.

Within this environment, our Data and Insight team are responsible for all pre-inspection and post-inspection reporting, including data analysis. This work informs inspections, supports development and is used in publication too.

About the role

Joining our dedicated team, you’ll oversee innovative analysis and influence senior stakeholders – ultimately improving the lives of children and young people across England. It makes this both a fascinating and meaningful role, and one that contributes to decision-making within Ofsted and the whole sector.

An essential member of our leadership and management team, you’ll be jointly responsible for providing analysis and insight of regional and local data and work closely with Regional Directors. You’ll triangulate with other data sources to gain a good understanding of each sector and a view on areas that need focused attention and improvement. You’ll also help ensure that the data and tools available meet our needs.

About you

You’ll need experience of supporting and overseeing analysis of complex information and data, and of using tools and drawing out key findings. You’ll have a degree level qualification and the ability to manage a team through change. Excellent communications skills and a talent for influencing people at a senior level will also be essential. It will also be helpful though not essential to have a good understanding of inspection outcome and performance data for schools, further education and skills, social care and early years.

About our benefits

We’re determined to help you find the ideal work/life balance, so we will see to it that you enjoy a supportive and friendly workplace, with a manageable workload. We will also provide you with a benefits package that is designed to address your financial future and mental wellbeing, comprising a Civil Service Pension Scheme and 32.5 days of annual leave (plus public holidays), as well as access to counselling and advisory services for both you and your family. Exceptional training and development opportunities mean this is a valuable chance to further your career – while doing something great for every person who relies on education and childcare services.

Closing date: 11.55pm on 25 August 2021.
