We are seeking to recruit a post-doctoral Research Fellow in Health Data Science to join the dynamic and growing primary care/health data science team led by Professor Frank Sullivan in the School of Medicine. The post is based with Professor Colin McCowan, is 24 months full time, and funded by a personal award. The successful candidate will support a number of different projects which are using routinely collected clinical data supplied by a Safe Haven.

The candidate will be expected to develop a data management plan for each project and then analyse the data to ensure that the key variables needed to answer the research questions are robustly created and delivered in a suitable format for planned analysis working within a wider project team. In addition, the post holder will lead the development of a standardised approach to handling and managing data from Safe Havens to improve the automation, transparency and reproducibility of the research process.

You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, and computer scientists. As a health data scientist, you will have a master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline, and bring or be able to develop skills in software development, data processing, analysis and reporting.

If you meet the requirements for this role, and want to apply your experience and knowledge to a rapidly expanding field in health data science, them please send informal enquiries to Professor Colin McCowan (cm434@st-andrews.ac.uk) and include ‘Research Fellow in Health Data Science’ in the subject line of your email.

The University of St Andrews is committed to equality for all, demonstrated through our working on diversity awards (ECU Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter; and Stonewall).

Closing Date: 10 July 2019
