Here at GSK, it is critical that Global Finance has the capability to build confidence, both internally and externally, to ensure that risks are managed effectively and holistically. The Senior Risk Data Scientist plays a key role within the Finance Risk Management & Controls team to help drive this agenda.

This role supports the Finance Risk Data Analytics lead to provide Global Finance and Global Process Owners support in assessing risks and identifying gaps in controls. In this role you will utilise exploratory analytics, SQL database and machine learning, to create opportunities for process and control simplification to optimise risk exposure and costs (Operational and External Audit). This role assesses the Global Finance risk environment and hones-in on key areas to support and promote the creation of action plans from the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the go-to person to provide ERP functional advice to the FRMC team to accelerate project deliverables. Develop and own the relationship with GSK ERP teams to ensure successful and operational data mining /analytics and Machine Learning activities.
  • Business partnering role with Process Operations teams and Global Process Owners to understand stakeholder needs, accelerate project deliverables, identify trends, process gaps and risks. Centralize control risk assessment and drive simplification and efficiency across processes by identifying opportunities to leverage technology and analytics.
  • Support and advise FRMC Directors to utilize and build out the use of data analytics skills. Be responsible to promote and train FRMC members to use self-service data analytics capabilities and sample extraction tools e.g. CELONIS, SAP and BW/ BI.
  • Lead the design and development of analytical solutions to understand risks across key business processes (P2P/ O2C/ R2R). Ensure the creation and maintenance of documentation, data dictionaries and perform peer review of analytic modelling output.
  • Be an advisor on various special projects requiring emerging technology advice (BOTs, Machine Learning, AI), ERP functional knowledge, data analytics and risk assessment skills.
  • Lead and support the delivery of cost effective, high-quality continuous control performance reports timely through risk use cases analysis contributing to proactive risk assessment. Provide clear, insightful interpretation of analysis to enable decision making.
  • Act as a back up to leader and mentor to junior members of the team. Be informed and up to date with Emerging Tech advancements especially in the Risk space, educate and advise FRMC team members on new technologies.
  • Be comfortable with audit concepts and be a team player supporting junior members in developing KPIs and visual controls related to key processes optimizing cost for control testing and performance.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Mathematics & Statistics, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or other applicable degree & further education qualification in IT/Data analytics or Finance (CA, ACCA, CIMA..)
  • Data Analytics; Data Science, SAP ERP functional knowledge.
  • Statistical and Data manipulation scripting languages e.g. R, SQL Python.
  • SQL expert - proven experience in using SQL for analysis is required as the main tool out team is using is MS Azure SQL database.
  • Risk assessment across business processes using a mix of risk management & controls theory, business process experience and good stakeholder management
  • Ability to define process and procedure related to use and integration of technology.
  • Experience delivering data analysis in other data science roles, utilising diverse and complex data sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • MSc Degree in Mathematics and Statistics, Management Science, Operational research, Financial Mathematics.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical environment.
