The Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders.

The Schrag Research Group, based in the Department, is focused on the investigation and treatment of motor and non-motor features of Parkinson’s disease, including psychiatric presentations, using a patient-centred approach. This includes several intervention studies to improve non-pharmacological and pharmacological management of symptoms, development of outcome measures for clinical trials, and epidemiological studies to explore natural history and prognosis. A particular focus is the investigation and treatment of psychiatric aspects of the disease and the assessment of motor features using digital devices.

About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to analyse data from studies of Parkinson’s disease (PD) in the group of Professor Anette Schrag. This will include data from studies on risk factors and the prodromal phase of Parkinson’s disease, observational and interventional studies, and validation studies of new scales and wearable devices. Working closely with the PI, you will work in a multidisciplinary group working on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders and will have the opportunity to make the most of available datasets and infrastructure.

The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant from Parkinson’s UK for six months in the first instance.

About you

You will hold an MRes/MSc in statistics, epidemiology, engineering, psychology or another relevant discipline and knowledge of key elements of study designs used in medical or psychological research. Experience in using a range of statistical methods and of data management is essential, as is advanced experience with relevant statistical programmes and good skills in database design and use. You will be meticulous and accurate in all aspects of work, with good time management skills, the ability to work to deadlines, and the ability to work across multiple research projects.

Starting salary offered in the range of £38,607 - £41,255 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
