Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero, whilst protecting energy consumers – especially vulnerable people.
This is a unique opportunity to join a digital team working at the intersection of technology, policy and sustainability. Ofgem is developing an innovative digital platform that will enable cross-party working with a range of vital operations. You’ll contribute to the delivery of the digital service, playing a critical role in the design of intuitive and accessible solutions that support regulated businesses and the wider public. It’s a chance to shape design direction, lead high-impact projects, and help build services that really matter.
You’ll have the chance to influence design across multiple or highly complex services, setting the standard for user-centred development. You’ll be getting involved with prototyping using a new design system, developing accessible, inclusive experiences that deliver on user needs. In addition to practical design, you’ll be a key figure in mentoring junior designers, championing consistency, and embedding best practice across teams.
What’s more, exceptional candidates will also have the opportunity to become a Professional Development Lead (PDL). In this enhanced position, you’ll take on key leadership activities, supporting colleagues and driving performance excellence and management. You’ll be enabled to broaden your leadership skills while making a real difference to the design profession at Ofgem.
We’re looking for a confident design leader with proven experience in interaction or UX roles, including work aligned to the GDS service standard. You’ll need strong knowledge of the GDS prototyping kit, experience collaborating with content design, service design and user research, and the ability to support others in making smart, evidence-based design decisions.
We have a critical purpose to drive strategic business improvements across our mission-critical organisation. By joining Ofgem, you’ll play a key role in driving more efficient operations at Ofgem, ultimately supporting the transition to Net Zero and helping us protect consumers.
