We are looking for a Data Scientist to join us at the cutting edge of sports analytics. Working within our horse racing team on our innovative RaceiQ brand, this role is based in our London office with some flexibility for remote working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of analysts using one of the largest racing databases in the world.
  • Analyse various data sources, including granular tracking data, to generate new insights around the performances of horses and jockeys
  • Lead the development of innovative new metrics by working alongside a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders, from analysts and broadcasters to trainers and governing bodies.
  • Build robust pipelines as part of our fully automated system to deliver reliable performance with real-world data.
  • Full autonomy on ideas and approaches to projects
  • Contribute to the wider data science team with knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Key Requirements:

  • Knowledge of machine learning and statistical methods, e.g. linear/logistic regression, decision trees, random forest, unsupervised methods, neural networks etc.
  • Experience with the PyData stack (e.g. pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, XGBoost, matplotlib)
  • Experience using databases and SQL.
  • Experience with Git and GitHub desired.
  • A passion for data & ability to communicate complex and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and foster collaboration with industry experts.
  • Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to draw ideas from diverse domains to tackle a wide variety of problems.
  • Keep to a high standard of code quality to develop reliable systems and clean, readable code.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience in a similar role.
