The GTUK Digital Hub is the central team responsible for supporting our client-facing service lines in delivering analytics and Low/No Code solutions to clients. The successful candidate will be part of the hub leadership and will play a significant role in helping senior leaders across Grant Thornton shape the firm’s digital agenda as the lead SME in Data Science & Machine Learning. You will work closely with some of our largest clients, decision makers, and other global Grant Thornton member firms to help the GTUK Digital Hub deliver for clients and become a commercial success.

A look into the role
As a Principal Consultant, Data Science and Machine Learning within our Digital Hub team, you will:

  • Be the UK lead technical authority for Data Science and Machine Learning, working closely with the Principal Consultant, Data Analytics & Engineering.
  • Support the Director, Digital Hub, and the Digital Transformation Partner by promoting analytics to our clients across our firm and managing a team to deliver solutions as the lead client facing consultant.
  • Set and follow timelines, development standards, quality processes and perform senior technical reviews on deliverables.
  • Be able to tell a clear and convincing story from data to all levels of management.
  • Play a lead role in setting the firms overarching Analytics strategy.
  • Set and follow timelines, development standards, quality processes and perform senior technical revie Oversee the Design, build, test and deployment pipelines and analytics solutions for our clients.

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Principal Consultant, Data Science and Machine Learning the minimum criteria you’ll need is bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM subject or related work experience. would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • Significant experience in Data Science, Statistics, Operational Research, or related Disciplines
  • Expert level knowledge of Bayesian Statistics, Machine Learning and a good understanding of Visualisation tools and Visual Programming solutions.
  • Demonstrable practice experience in three or more of the following areas:
    • Deep learning,
    • NLP,
    • Computer Vision,
    • Classification Techniques,
    • Regression Techniques,
    • Clustering techniques,
    • Graph Algorithms.
  • Proven track record of working with a variety of different Data Architectures, and the ability to articulate the relevant benefits and pitfalls of each.
  • Experience of cloud analytics solutions (Azure, GCP or AWS) Big Data Solutions (Hadoop, Spark, Hive or Pig), data bases (Netezza, BiqQuery, Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake or Neo4J)
  • Gained proficiency in relevant programming languages – SQL, Python, R, Julia
  • Knowledge of best practices in development and coding standards, and CRISP-DM.
  • A clear and confident communicator at all levels of management.
